Imam: Islamic leadership position.
Jannah: Paradise/heaven.
Jahannam: Hell.
Jihad: Striving in the way of Allah.
Jinns: Invisible conscious beings.
Medina: Where Mohammad made his escape to.
Muhammad: Founder of Islam.
Qur’an: Holy book of Islam.
Rasul: One who speaks God’s word, “messenger.”
Risalah: The message of Allah, “prophethood.”
Sadaqa: Unobligated charity between Muslims.
Shari’a: Law, God’s rules Muslims follow.
Shi’a: Followers who believe ‘Ali .
Sunna: Habit, practice.
Sunni Islam: Recognize Aba Bakr as original Caliph.
Shirk: Sin of idolatry and polytheism.
Tawhid: God is one.
Ummah: Entire Muslim community.
Yawm al-din/Yawmuddin: Judgment Day.
